We reached Mangosteen at around 11.30 am and we were greeted by the staff with garlands. We then moved to our individual rooms that were very luxurious and had a great spa atmosphere created within the bathroom of the room. The garden surroundings with the banana trees and the mangosteen trees were very soothing to the eye and my room on the 2nd floor had a beautiful view of the sea from the private balcony. The deck had a nice hammock and perfect for relaxing in. We enjoyed our first Thai meal that was hosted by the Manager of the resort Mr Azuan Bin Noordin. It was a very enjoyable lunch and after our inspection of the rest of the hotel facilities we were able to relax and enjoy a swim in the Mangosteen’s beautiful pool.

We were given a lovely greeting from the staff. The reception area is fresh, light and airy – a great first impression. All the bungalows are stand-alone, offering a choice of a ceiling fan or air-conditioning and they are very spacious. Private balcony, in-room safe and huge bathrooms with an outside private bathroom. Some of the bungalows have either an outside shower and/or a jacuzzi but you pay more for this of course. No iron/ironing board in the rooms. Resort staff will do your ironing at a small charge - to press a shirt cost approx NZD2. The resort has spa facilities, a fitness room, great pool & swim-up bar, lounge and a restaurant. The food at the restaurant is extremely tasty and fresh. I love this property and I have no hesitation in recommending to my clients. Great for couples/honeymooners. The property is located about 40mins drive to Patong Beach and about 20 mins walk to Nai Harn beach. The resort operates a courtesy shuttle every 30mins to/from the beach if you don’t feel up to the walk.

The accommodation at The Mangosteen Resort and Spa was on the east side of the island. There was a quietness and sereneness about this resort that was instantly relaxing. The villas were roomy and luxuriously decorated with an added touch of an outdoor bathroom. This resort would definitely be recommended for honeymooners and couples wanting a quiet relaxing holiday.
